Learn More About PFLAG Prineville
PFLAG Prineville was established in December 2022 by a dedicated group of individuals who were determined to bring about positive change in our rural community. When we learned about instances of homophobia and transphobia in our schools and our public library, we felt compelled to action. We built a PFLAG chapter to support local families, educate allies and advocate for equality for LGBTQ+ people.
PFLAG Prineville holds a deep affection for our hometown community. So it is important to us to work with local LGBTQ+ people, parents, families and allies to ensure LGBTQ+ people of Crook County are safe, celebrated, empowered and loved.
Provide Support – PFLAG Prineville hosts monthly in-person support meetings. We like to get out into the community to talk with people and share information at events like PRIDE. We also host special programs, when our funding allows.
Offer Education & Events – At our monthly support meetings, we share information on different topics, based on the needs of our followers. We partner with the Crook County Health Department, Mosaic Community Health, and other local organizations to offer current and relevant information. We also hold a community educational event each spring to develop a visible group of allies within our community.
Advocate – PFLAG Prineville partners with other local and state organizations to educate local and state decision-makers about issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community, and to teach others how to use their voices to amplify our efforts toward a more equitable, and just world.
